The knockout stage of this year's Tekkers Greater Malé Cup, hosted at The Rehendhi Turf Ground in Hulhumalé, is set to kick off tonight with the highly anticipated group stage matches.
A total of 24 teams were initially divided into six groups, with the top two teams from each group securing spots in the top 16. Additionally, the top four teams finishing third in their respective groups also advanced to the knockout stage.
The top 16 matches will be played tonight and Thursday night. Three of the teams that advanced to the knockout rounds have won all three of their group matches. They are Squadra from Group A, Rampage from Group B, and Ayani FC from Group D.
Meanwhile, three teams from Group C completed the group stage undefeated: BG Sports and Gaafaru FT, who secured first and second place in the group with one win and two draws each, and Goat FC, which drew all three matches. However, despite their strong performance, Goat FC, finishing third in the group, did not qualify for the top 16.
