Ministry of Education has notified schools that students in grades 8 and 9 at present will be sitting for their O'level exams next year.
The circular sent to schools yesterday, signed by Minister of Education Ismail Shafeeu, stated that changes had been brought to secondary level exams alongside the changes to the academic year.
According to this, students currently in Grade 9 will sit for their O'level exams in February/March next year. Those in Grade 8 will be doing the exams in October/November the same year.
They said that from the next academic year onwards, O'levels will be done in October/November each year.
In preparation for O'levels, Grade 8 students have been taught Cambridge subjects since early last year. Previously, those subjects were covered from Grade 9 onwards.
There have been complaints from parents due to the frequent changes being brought to the academic year.
