Last year's Ha. Atoll champion Dhidhdhoo and Hdh. Atoll champion Naivaadhoo have won their first matches in this year's Golden Futsal Challenge.
In Ha. Atoll Group B's first match, Dhidhdhoo defeated Muraidhoo 2-0. Dhidhdhoo's goals were scored by Hussein Shifah and Ahzam Rasheed.
In the group's second match, Vashafaru drew 2-2 with last year's atoll runner-up Utheemu. While Vashafaru's Ibrahim Sanoon took an early lead, Ahmed Aiham (Fatho)'s two goals gave Utheemu control of the match. However, Vashafaru secured a point in the final minute through Ibrahim Atheeq Hassan's goal.
In Group A's first match, Baarah defeated Hoarafushi 4-2. Both of Hoarafushi's goals were scored by Mohamed Rayyan bin Abdullah Aamir. Baarah's Mohamed Maiz Yousuf scored two goals, while Ahmed Shazeem and Hassan Solah scored one each.
Hdh. Atoll's most recent champion, Naivaadhoo, placed in Group B, defeated Vaikaradhoo 4-0 last night. Abdullah Visam completed a hat trick with three goals, while Ismail Waheed also scored.
In the match between Nellaidhoo and Kumundhoo from the same group, Nellaidhoo won 4-3. Kumundhoo's goals were scored by Mohamed Savin, Mohamed Faris, and Ali Hassan. Nellaidhoo's goals came from Mushrif Mohamed (who scored twice), Fahuman Abdul Hameed, and Ahmed Shareef.
In Group A, Makunudhoo defeated Nolhivaranfaru 3-2, with all three of Makunudhoo's goals scored by Nuhaadh Fauzy. Nolhivaranfaru's goals were scored by Akram Abdulrasheed and Ibrahim Waheed Hassan. In another group match, Neykurendhoo defeated Himandhoo 1-0, with Mohamed Wilf scoring the only goal.
The Golden Futsal Challenge Cup has matches scheduled tonight between Shaviyani Atoll and Thaa Atoll.
