First Lady Sajidha Mohamed today said that teachers should be given more opportunities to improve their wellbeing and teaching quality by reducing their time spent in schools.

Speaking at the opening of the 7th International Teachers' Conference at the Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), the First Lady emphasized the need for professional development, including workshops, training programs, and mental health support for teachers.

Addressing the challenges in the Maldivian education system, she pointed out the difficulties in strengthening education on islands outside Male' due to the country’s geographic spread and highlighted the importance of finding solutions collectively.

The First Lady also highlighted the need for integrating technology into education, particularly in island nations like Maldives.

She praised teachers in the islands for their leadership in strengthening the education system and urged them to continue playing a key role in its improvement.

The conference, which brings together academics and policymakers from across the country, will address a wide range of educational issues.
