According to the Ministry of Education, 2,024 applications for grade 1 admissions for students have been in Male' City. Applications of 39 students for admission to grade 1 in other atoll schools.
Ministry of Education has said that 2,135 applications have been submitted for Grade 1 admissions for the upcoming academic year.
The application window, which opened on November 15, saw the majority of submissions for schools in Male' City, with 2,024 applications.
Applications for atoll schools stood at 39, while international schools and private schools received 6 and 66 applications, respectively.

Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu confirmed that 2,135 applications had been received by the ministry as of today.
The deadline for admissions to schools in Male' City closes today, while applications for schools in the atolls remain open until December 10.
Earlier, for grade one, placement was given to students who are six years old and under seven years by January 1 of the academic year. However, in the last two years, when the academic year was changed to August, students who were seven years of age by December were admitted to grade 1.
With the upcoming changes to the academic calendar, the current 2024 academic year will end in February 2025. The new 2025 academic year will begin on April 6, 2025.
According to a circular issued in January by the ministry, students aged six to seven years by December 31, 2024, will be eligible for Grade 1 admissions.
All students completing Upper Kindergarten (UKG) during the 2024–2025 academic year will advance to Grade 1 at the start of the 2025 academic year.
