President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Ibrahim have exchanged Fitr Eid greetings at Muleeaage, the Presidential Palace this morning.
Following the Eid prayers, people of all ages gathered at Muliaage to exchange Eid greetings with the First Couple. The event, held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., was also attended by several Cabinet ministers and state officials.
Eid festivities are set to take place across Male' and other islands this evening.
To facilitate public participation in the celebrations, vehicle traffic has been restricted from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
In his Eid message, President Muizzu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upholding Islamic values in Maldives, stating that efforts are being made to enhance the atmosphere of Eid by illuminating the islands and amplifying the sound of Takbeer.
He also highlighted the importance of making Eid a day of joy, particularly for children, and strengthening familial and societal bonds.
"Eid should be a day that brings smiles to the faces of children," he said.
"It is important that Eid strengthens family ties and fosters a renewed sense of unity, involving youth, the elderly, and the entire community."
