The Malé City Council is all set to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr in Malé City.

As per the calendar, Eid will be celebrated next Wednesday. Concerning the preparations for the day, the Malé City Council, in a post on X, stated, "Eid is just around the corner, and the council is proud to announce that we are partnering up with Saadha Entertainment for the upcoming Eid Festival! Join us with your family to celebrate Eid together #MageyEid."

The council has also arranged for Kula Jehun (spraying/throwing colour at each other at a fun gathering for the game) at Rasfannu area at 9:30 am on Eid in addition to traditional 'Bodumas' parade and 'Maali' parade at 4 pm. The event will commence from Majeedhee Magu in front of Olympus.

A special show is scheduled to be held at the Artificial Beach at 8:30 pm on the same night, followed by fireworks at 10 pm in the area.

In tandem with the colorful celebration of Eid in Malé City, the government has decided to install ceremonial arches (Gidige) across the entire nation to illuminate the occasion. Efforts are underway to install the same in Malé City.

This year, as well, vehicular movement will be prohibited in the city from 4 pm to 8 pm to facilitate peaceful pedestrian movement. Eid being a day when many people venture out with their families, this time frame is specifically allocated for pedestrians.
