The Employment Tribunal has ordered Island Aviation Service (IAS) to reinstate Aishath Jennifer as Deputy Managing Director.
Jennifer was appointed to the role in December 2018, was removed by the IAS board in January.
Following her dismissal, Jennifer filed a case with the Employment Tribunal, which ruled on October 13 that her removal lacked just cause and failed to meet standards of procedural fairness.
As part of the ruling, IAS is directed to pay Jennifer over MVR 56,000, which is one month’s salary and allowances, as compensation for her wrongful dismissal.
Employment tribunal also stated that IAS must reinstate Jennifer and notify the tribunal of compliance within one month.
