Island Aviation Services (IAS) employees are set to receive an increase in their basic pay, the company's Managing Director Mohamed Mihad said on Saturday.

At the annual staff night, Mihad said that the pay increase will take effect next month, and that there will also be an increase in pension savings. He said that even though the company stopped providing certain allowances during the Covid-19 pandemic, they have decided to resume them again.

Mihad went on to say that the IAS loan scheme will provide employees with loans between MVR 25,000 and MVR 50,000. Starting next month, fuel charges paid by employees will also be deducted.

The salaries of the employees in the general cadre will also be harmonised, and there will be a positive pay revision effective March 1. An increase in basic pay will naturally lead to an increase in the amount saved on pensions, Mihad said.

Further, he announced that an employee's total number of years spent working for the company will be counted from the date of their initial hire if they return to the company after resigning.

''This change was brought about in order to recognise the employees' contributions to the company before their resignation. We are also happy to announce an interest free loan scheme will be introduced for the company's employees soon,'' he said.
