President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that if he learns of any political appointees attempting to influence the judiciary, they will be summarily dismissed.

Speaking at the ceremony held last night at the Social Centre to mark one year in office, the President said that tampering with or exerting influence on the judiciary had ended from the moment he took oath of office.

He expressed confidence that none of his political appointees would attempt to exert influence over the judiciary. In the instance that any persons have information that a political appointee is doing so, he appealed to let it be made known to him, upon which the person would be immediately terminated from his position.

The President assured that no persons would be persecuted for political reasons, and that any prosecution will be within the systems in place.

He noted that some individuals, with a spirit of revenge, are spreading rumours on social media. However, he stood by the belief that he was elected by the people because he had no intentions of political retaliation against anyone, he said.

The President asserted that a justice will be established, reiterating that there will be no political prisoners under his administration.
