Passports held on accusations that 50 land plots were sold

Despite Police having earlier said that no charges are being pressed against HDC Board Members, Mihaaru News reports that the order to hold their passports accuse them of having sold 50 land plots under the Binveriya housing scheme wrongfully.

Despite Police having earlier said that no charges are being pressed against HDC Board Members, Mihaaru News reports that the order to hold their passports accuse them of having sold 50 land plots under the Binveriya housing scheme wrongfully.

In Thursday night's press conference, Police said that up till then, no charges had been brought against those persons, nor had there been an order to hold passports.

The order to hold passports were issued just hours after the press conference, at around 23:00 hrs on Thursday.

Passports can be held in relation to an investigation only if there are allegations against the specific individual. The order to hold HDC board members passports state that there are allegations against 'some members'.

In relation to the case, passports have also been held of Housing Ministry's former State Minister Akram Kamaluddeen, former Senior Executive Director Mohamed Arif, former Senior Executive Director Ligram Waheed and current Director General Ahmed Visham Naseem.
