A 24 year old man has died after he went missing while out diving with two others.
Nabeeh Hassan, 24, a local man from Raa atoll’s Alifushi island has passed away from drowning today, Police confirmed.
Reports say he went missing after going diving with two others just near by the island, at around 10:00 hrs. Nabeeh was recovered from the ocean bed during search and rescue efforts, but passed away after he was taken to Alifushi for treatment.
Police said Nabeeh’s death was confirmed to the agency by the Raa Alifushi Health Centre.
”It was reported to Police at around 12:08 hrs that one of three people who went [diving] near Alifushi’s harbour channel to spear fishing did not resurface,” said Police.
Police said they are now investigating the case.
Reports say that he was found on the sea bed on the south side of the island by a group of divers, who brought him to shore.
