It has been reported that the Chief Justice is being treated for a spine injury. He was flown in to the capital last night and is in serious condition.
He had been on vacation in Baa atoll Fulhadhoo as the Supreme Court is currently in recess.
No official comments have yet been made by any authorities regarding the Chief Justice's condition.
Meanwhile, rumours have abounded over recent weeks that the Chief Justice may retire due to health concerns.
