Nahil Ahmed Siddeeq has been appointed as the General Secretary of Football Association of Maldives (FAM).

Nahil most recently filled the position of Senior Political Director at the Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation.

Prior to this he worked in different capacities at FAM. At the age of 23, Nahil is the youngest person to take up the post of General Secretary, effectively being in charge of all administrative work at the association.

Nahil previously played in Maziya's youth team, as well as the national under-16 squad.

He took up a permanent position at FAM first in 2022 as a competition officer, after having worked there in an internship in 2017.

When he resigned from FAM in February, he had been promoted to the post of Acting Head of the Competition Department.

Nahil holds a first degree and masters degree in business administration from West of England University, which is affiliated with Villa College. He has also completed the Football Management Certificate which was led by AFC.

Chairperson of FAM Normalization Committee Ahmed Zuhoor said that Nahil was the most competent applicant for the post of General Secretary out of those who applied, based on experience and qualifications both. Nahil also scored the highest marks during the interview process, Zuhoor said.

The last General Secretary of FAM was Mohamed Jaushan Shareef. Zuhoor has previously said that Jaushan worked as an Acting GS for the past three months after the Normalization Committee took over without taking any remuneration.

After the Normalization Committee had been set up, Jaushan had sent in his resignation. Jaushan has said that he stayed back in the position on the request of members of the Normalization Committee.
