President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has decided to officially designate the land space known as Bodufinolhu, which is connected to L. Gan, to the island.
Under the Decentralization Act, the President has the authority to designate the jurisdiction of city councils and island councils in all administrative areas of the country.
Bodufinolhu, which was allocated to the land which island of Gan, is located at the tip of the island's 'thundi' beach. Although previously a separate islet despite being in the same lagoon, Bodufinolhu naturally merged with Gan later on.
Bodufinolhu is a beautiful island with with beautiful sea and beach.
Changes to the Decentralisation policies allowed uninhabited islands outside of the islands' jurisdictions to also be included when beneficial to the pubic. While all islands are able to request for such islands, some islands have already received their uninhabited islands.
