LUX* Resorts & Villas on Thursday announced the launch of the special 'Caregiver Package' for local healthcare professionals.

Under this package, all medical workers residing in Maldives who wish to stay at LUX* South Ari Atoll Resort & Villas or LUX* North Malé Atoll Resort & Villas, will receive 30 percent off accommodation and 20 percent off all dining and spa treatments.

Medical professionals can enjoy these special rates by booking directly with the hotel with a valid ID, between June 3, 2020 and December 31, 2021.

"Our deep gratitude for all healthcare workers' heroic acts of service during this pandemic is beyond what words can describe. No gesture is enough to repay them", said the company's Regional Director of Sales and Marketing for Maldives and Middles East Roshan Radhay.

"However, we wish to do our bit for our local community in order to provide them with a well-deserved break close to home".

LUX* Resorts and Hotels also recently held a 'Healthcare Heroes' campaign to thank Maldivian healthcare workers. According to the resort, the local community shared some very heartwarming stories, expressing their gratitude for the medical professionals since the fight against COVID-19 started in March.

Additionally, the company is set to honour all 'Healthcare Heroes' by planting coconut trees on World Environment Day, June 5, "to serve as permanent reminders of their invaluable acts of service rendered during this unprecedented time".

With the majority of cases originating from the densely populated capital city of Male', the total number of positive cases found in Maldives currently stands at 1,850 while the number of recoveries is 644. The country mourns 7 fatalities.

The World Health Organization (WHO) classified the spread of COVID-19 as a global pandemic on March 12. The new strain of novel coronavirus has infected over 6.5 million people across the planet and claimed over 388,000 lives. However, to date, over 3.1 million people have recovered from the infection.
