Immigration Controller Shammaan dismissed

Controller General of Immigration Mohamed Shammaan Waheed has been dismissed from the position yesterday.

While Mihaaru News has reported that he has been dismissed, there has been no official comment on the matter as of yet. As a result, the reasons for his dismissal are not known at this time.

Shammaan, who has served at Immigration for 14 years, was appointed Immigration Controller on November 19, 2023, right after this administration came into office.

At the time, during the previous administration led by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Shammaan had been removed from his post as Immigration Officer for sharing posts on social media in support of former President Abdulla Yameen.

However, in 2022, the Employment Tribunal had ruled that he had been dismissed wrongfully, ordering his reinstatement.
