Accusing Victory Sports Club of failing to pay salaries for two months, Spanish Midfielder Angel Carrascosa Munoz has submitted an official complaint to the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

Meanwhile, Victory Club has confirmed plans to take measures against Munoz, due to alleged breaches of contract including departing the country without providing prior notice to the club.

According to a recent statement given to Mihaaru News by the manager of Victory Sports Club Ahmed Ghalib, although Munoz has made an array of demands to the club following two offers received from other teams, Victory is yet to make a decision regarding the player.

Ghalib confirmed that the club, much like many others, was in fact facing difficulties managing player salaries, however, he assured that the issue would be resolved before the Dhivehi Premier League commenced.

According to sources, Victory had been leaning towards terminating Munoz’s contract, prompting Munoz to raise the issue with FIFA.

In the letter sent by Munoz to FIFA, he states that Victory Sports Club has failed to pay his salary of USD 5000 (MVR 77, 100) due to be paid on the month of May and April, in addition to accommodation expenses amounting to MVR 12, 000 and bonus payments of USD 3000 (MVR 4626) for three matches.

This year Munoz played a significant role in propelling Victory towards Dhivehi Premier League, scoring a total of five goals for the club.

This is the second instance Munoz has reached out to FIFA concerning a dispute with a Maldivian football club. In 2016, reported a complaint against Club Valencia, also due to payment related issues.

FIFA has since instructed Valencia to pay Munoz the amount owed, approximately USD 9000 (MVR 138, 780) within the year. In addition, the club was also required to pay USD 450 (MVR 6939) as legal fees to the Spanish Federation.

To alleviate possible financial pressures that may be faced by Club Valencia, FIFA divided the total sum into two separate payments.

Previously in 2015, FIFA had instructed Victory Sports Cub to pay ex-Coach Vladimír Goffa the remainder of his salary owed from his employment back in 2013.

In addition to the Coach’s salary, FIFA also demanded that Victory Sports Club pay all legal fees incurred by Goffa, as well as fees owed to FIFA’s governing body, resulting in a total amount of nearly two lakhs in Maldivian Rufiyaa.
