Ministry of Islamic Affairs has said that Fitr Zakat paid in staple foods will be accepted in the Male' area from Saturday onwards.
The ministry said that similar to previous year, Fitr Zakat will be accepted in staple foods this year as well. Fitr Zakat can be paid as such from Saturday, March 22 until the end of Thursday, March 27 at the Salahudheen Hall in Majeedhiya School. Those visiting the premises are asked to use the gate on Ameer Ahmed Magu.
The ministry will be accepting Zakat in staples from 1pm to 4pm on each day between these dates.
If opting to pay Fitr Zakat in staples, it has to be paid in 2.4 kg of the staple that the payer generally uses.
Types of grains accepted as Fitr Zakat are:
- normal rice
- Thailand rice
- Basmati rice
- Red rice
- Wheat flour
