Litus and Mihaaru News, the primary sponsors for the National Billiard Tournament set for November, have signed an agreement on 17th October 2022.
Additionally, Mihaaru News served as the media partner for the inaugural National Billiard Tournament last year.
Litus, served as the tournament's title sponsor the previous year and it continues to do so this year. Billiards is well enjoyed among the youth and various clubs in the Maldives.
The tournament’s coverage and photography will be done by the media similar to last year.
Before October 20, 2022, players are invited to submit applications to the competition, which is set to be held on November 3, 2022.
Club Eagles won last year's championship after defeating Customs Recreation Club in the championship game. Hussain Fayaaz won the tournament’s Men's First Division title. Dheena Ahmed won the Women's First Division championship. The team of Fayaaz and Dheena won the Mixed Doubles competition.
Hussain Fayaaz and Ali Shavin were the winners of the men's doubles competition. Abbas Saeed won the Second Division Singles Championship.
The increase in female participation in the sport during last year's competition was praised by Maldives Pool Billiard Association (MPBA) President Ahmed Naseef. In 2021, during the competition's closing ceremony, he declared that preserving gender equality will be a primary priority.
