According to the President's Office, key issues discussed included low fish prices, difficulties in obtaining fuel and financing, and challenges in offloading fish.
Fishermen also requested to continue work on developing the fishing industry in accordance with the President's pledges.
They also proposed ideas on advancing the fishing industry using modern technologies and discussed ways to expand the fishing market and improve fish quality.
President Muizzu said that the government will work closely with the fishing community to resolve their concerns.
"The President stated that he would give serious consideration to the issues raised during the meeting and take prompt action to address them. He also stated that he would continue to holding such meetings more frequently," President's Office said.
A fisherman who attended the meeting said that the President also discussed the resumption of some fisheries projects started by the government.
The fishermen also requested the government to allocate a special budget to celebrate Fishermen's Day and show that it gives priority to fishermen, he said.
The fishermen also asked the President to transfer the fish processing factories at Felivaru and Kooddoo under two separate companies.
"The President acknowledged receiving our opinions and mentioned that he had gained significant insights. He noted that some of the information shared had not been previously brought to the attention of the President," he said.
