Anti Corruption Commissio has advised Aasandha to offer coverage based on the financial means of the applicants.

In their latest report titled 'Corruption Risk Assessment of Health and Welfare System', they noted that there are current practices in medical insurance, Aasandha and NSPA that may lead to corruption and reaping undue benefits.

Hence, they requested that necessary guidelines be formed to better regulate the Aasandha system.

ACC advised relevant authorities to conduct researches on the feasibility of transferring Aasandha services to be contributory, or non-contributory in consideration of financial means so as to ensure the sustainability of the service.

Aasandha Managing Director Aiminath Zeeniya has also earlier said that the service can only be maintained continuously through adopting a co-payment system.

As per the statistics shared on the Aasandha website, the first quarter of the year saw Aasandha spendings on g MVR 838 million on medical treatments, with the second quarter's figures being at MV 823 million. Within the first six months of the year alone, MVR 1.6 billion has been spent on medical treatments alone, with the largest spending on prescription medication.

With this in view, the government has now introduced bulk purchase of medication of European quality.
