Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has won the "Islamic Finance Entity of the Region" award at the 9th Islamic Finance Forum of South Asia.
The award was presented during a ceremony held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
As the first and only fully-fledged Islamic bank in the Maldives, MIB has been pivotal in the growth and development of the country's Islamic finance industry.
The bank has actively promoted financial literacy and education through various initiatives, including offering scholarships for students pursuing studies in Islamic finance.
MIB provides a diverse range of services tailored to meet the needs of the Maldivian population, including personal and business financing solutions, investment products, and savings accounts.
The bank has also significantly expanded its presence, with services now available in 18 islands across 12 atolls, ensuring accessibility for residents in major populated areas.
In addition to its physical branches, MIB enables secure online access to many of its services from any island in Maldives.
Its commitment to innovation was recently recognized with its Apply Now portal winning the "Most Innovative Digital Onboarding Rollout" award at the Global Fintech International Awards last month.
