Association for Democracy in the Maldives has today launched The Redline Platform - a portal through which members of the public can report incidents where their freedom of expression has been infringed upon.

The website was launched at an event held today at Meerumaa by a representative of the Maldives Association of Persons with Disabilities.

The Redline Platform portal has information about the project, and is built with a user-friendly interface that guides visitors through the reporting process. It also comes equipped with special accessibility tools, ensuring easy access for all individuals.

The association clarified that as they are not an investigative body, the data being collected will be used to compile documentation of incidents where freedom of expression was violated, ultimately using the information gathered to identify trends and create reports.

These would then be used to advocate for necessary changes in policy making and compliance to international law.

The platform will also act as a conduit between litigators and persons who wish to pursue cases in relation to their experiences.

The association assures that they will maintain anonymity of users. While the platform requires an email address and phone number for verification purposes, this data will not be stored beyond a period of one year.

Reports and data that the association shares with relevant stakeholders will also not include any identification information or information on specific cases, and will rather focus on underlying trends and data sets.

The platform is open for use for all persons over the age of eighteen.
