Malé City Council has decided to conduct an assessment to determine the number of land vehicles that would be registered to the city, the duration such vehicles can be used, and other information related to the subject.

The council issued an announcement yesterday seeking a contractor to conduct the assessment, with interested parties able to express their interest to the council by 1:00 pm of 18th July 2024.

While the council moves towards the study, Transport Ministry recently announced after Minister Mohamed Ameen's trip to Dubai that the ministry will be seeking Dubai's technology to reduce traffic congestion in the city.

According to data, 69,780 new vehicles were registered in the past five years, out of which over 42,000 vehicles were registered to Malé City.
