Police have alerted the public to be aware that scammers are now using a new tactic of using flash call numbers to compromise and steal from bank accounts.

Police said that as the use of flash calls instead of one time passwords (OTP) is increasing, scammers are now finding flash call codes through deception and accessing bank accounts.

Flash calls are an increasingly popular authentication method used by companies, where the company calls the customer, and the last four digits of the call number is used as a verification code.

Police appealed to the public to avoid sharing the call number or the code with any other persons. They urge the public to refrain from sharing numbers which have called, or made missed calls, to their phones.
