President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that 'not even an ounce' of influence was exerted on the process of finalizing the list of recipients of the 4000 flats that was announced Thursday.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Izzudheen Jetty, President Muizzu said that he had pledged not to take away any flats or land plots allocated to a citizen, and asserted that he will remain committed to this. However, some had been removed from the flat list which was published by the previous government, he said, adding that the reasons for this have been shared for all to see.

'I can assure you with complete confidence that no one exerted even an ounce of undue influence to the process of making this list. This is a list free of any undue influence. This is the first time a housing list has been published free of any outside influence," he said.

Addressing those who were not included in the list, President Muizzu assured that no one was deliberately left out. He reiterated that there is a 30 day window within which complaints can be submitted if there are any concerns.

The President said that this administration would ensure housing is provided for all Maldivian citizens.

"There is no need to worry. This year, work will commence on thousands of housing units in Male' and Hulhumale', as well as in Vilimale' and Gulhi Falhu," he said.

Housing projects will also be commenced in Giraavaru Falhu, Uthuru Thila Falhu and Rasmale', he said.

"Housing will be secured for every resident of Male' above the age of eighteen, of this I assure you," he said.
