Fenaka Corporation has entered discussions with the Addu City Council seeking the necessary land to build the planned new powerhouse to strengthen electricity services in the connected islands of Addu.

In a post on social media platform X today, Fenaka Managing Director Muaz Mohamed Rasheed said that senior officials of the company had met with the Addu City Council.

The meeting was held at Fenaka's offices in capital Male' City.

"At this meeting, we shared updates about the project to improve electricity services in Addu, and also held discussions about arranging allocation of land necessary for the project," Fenaka said.

In April, Fenaka signed an agreement with a Chinese company, Dongfang Electric International Corporation, to establish a powerplant in Addu with the capacity to generate 30 megawatts of electricity.

Power interruptions are an ongoing concern in Maradhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo, Feydhoo and Gan - the connected islands of Addu.

Water supplies and electricity services in Addu are provided by Fenaka.
