135 students aspiring to become teachers awarded scholarships

During the event, the President presented scholarships to the students selected for this year’s program. One student from each school received the award document.

Today, 135 students beginning their A level studies aspiring to pursue teaching were awarded scholarships.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, Education Minister Ismail Shafeeu, and other senior government officials attended the inauguration ceremony for the program, which aims to train the largest number of teachers in the past 10 years.

During the event, the President presented scholarships to the students selected for this year’s program. One student from each school received the award document.

3. Milandhoo School

4. Foakaidhoo School

5. Funadhoo School

6. Meynaa School

7. Kendhikulhudhoo School

8. Raa Atoll Education centre

9. Thulhaadhoo School

10. Lhaviyani Atoll Education Centre

11. Thoddoo School

12. Ukulhas School

13. Keyodhoo School

14. Faafu Atoll Education Centre

15. Dhaalu Atoll Education Centre

16. Gaafu Alifu Atoll Education Centre

17. Addu High School

18. Male' CHSE

19. Hulhumale' CHSE

20. Villa International High School

21. Ahmadhiyya International School

The program will enable students interested in teaching to begin their teaching degree after completing a foundational course.

Additionally, the Ministry of Education has announced a monthly stipend of MVR 1,500 for each student enrolled in the program.

Education Minister Ismail Shafeeu previously noted that Maldivian schools currently face a shortage of around 2,000 teachers.
