Police said they are in the process of sending the case to be prosecuted.
Maldives Police Service said they concluded investigations into the accident on the Sinamalé bridge where a man who was lying on the road after an accident was then run over by the motorcycle, leading to the man's death.
A statement issued on Monday detailed that the agency is in the process of sending the case for prosecution.
The double-accident took place on 1st February at around 08:11 in the morning, on the Hulhumalé to Malé lane towards the area where seaplanes land, police said.
According to police, the man who died in the accident was riding a motor cycle when his vehicle hit some cones on the side of the road and fell. He was then run over by a motorist who was right behind him.
The man reportedly died at 09:05 while receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). The deceased was identified as Javed Chaudhary, 30, a Bangladeshi.
CCTV footage of the incident shows that the man fell into the corner and was run over on the head by another motorcycle that was behind him.
Because of this, the second motorist's vehicle was towed and her license was confiscated under the Road Traffic Act, police said. Since then, the duration of her license confiscation was also extended, police further detailed.
Despite initial online speculations that the woman fled the scene after hitting Javed, police denied these claims and said she did wait at the scene for officers to arrive.
The agency said they were also working to determine the speed at which her motorcycle was travelling at the time of the accident.
The accident also garnered heavy criticism towards Maldives Police Service after they failed to mention that Javed was run over by the motorcycle after his initial accident.
