The Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) on Monday revealed its decision to dismiss the High Court's Senior Administrator Muna Mohamed.

In a letter addressed to Judge Shuaib Hussain Zakariyya of the High Court, DJA Director Mariyam Shahneeza Nazeer stated that Muna failed to attain the necessary 70 percent under the criteria used to assess individuals serving as Chief Administrators following probation.

The dismissal was finalised and informed to Muna on August 4, as per regulations concerning employees of the judicial sector.

According to the letter, DJA would initiate efforts to find a suitable individual to fill the vacant position and attempt to secure another job within the judicial sector for the dismissed employee if possible.

Muna has served as the Senior Court Administrator at the High Court since 2011.

Following amendments to the Judicial Service Act in 2019, the Chief Judicial Administrator was given the legal right to appoint chief administrators for courts. Subsequently, Chief Judicial Administrator Abdulla Nazeer decided to evaluate the performance of current administrators for a six-month period before offering them permanent positions.

Overall, DJA has decided to dismiss 10 administrators that received less than 70 percent in the post probation assessment.
