Maldives' champions, T-Rex have, in their first match, have won against Bhutan in the newly commissioned SABA Club Championship currently taking place in India.
Bhutan's Thimphu Magics and T-Rex faced off in last night's match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi where the Maldivian team won 71-47 points.
Gaurav Chandel scored the most points for the T-Rexes with 26 points. He displayed an exceptional performance bolstered with eight rebounds and eight steals in the game.
The first match of the tournament was played between Colombo BC of Sri Lanka and Times BC of Nepal yesterday. Colombo BC won the match 71-66.
T-Rex's second match of the tournament, which adopts a round robbing policy, will be against Colombo BC today.
Thimphu Magics will also play their second match against India's Tamil Nadu.
The team which comes out at the top from the round robbing stage will quality for next month's FIBA West Asia Super League Final.
