Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has issued a White Alert for the country, effective from 12:00 to 18:00 today.

MET Office said that weather conditions will start to improve from Thursday, following the intensification of the southwestern monsoon and the heavy rains experienced last week.
Last week's downpours led to significant flooding in the capital city of Male' and other islands across the nation. National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported that 77 houses in 13 islands have been damaged by the floods. Additionally, four houses have declined assessments, bringing the estimated total damage to infrastructure and property to MVR 819,546.
Islands most severely impacted include Haa Alifu atoll Baarah, Haa Alifu atoll Dhidhhoo, Haa Dhaalu atoll Kulhudhuffushi, Lhaviyani atoll Naifaru as well as Gaafu Alifu atoll Dhevvadhoo, and Addu City's Maradhoo, Feydhoo and Hithadhoo districts.
