Maldives experienced severe weather over the past week with orange warnings issued to parts of the country.
A total of 77 houses from 13 islands have reported damages caused due to floods amidst the stormy weather experienced in the Maldives since last week, revealed National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) today.
The agency said these figures reflect the number of assessment forms received as of 14:00 hrs today.
NDMA further said it had received reports of serious damage to agricultural fields in three islands other than Malé City, and that out of the 41 houses identified as requiring assessment, 37 houses have now been assessed.
They also revealed that four houses have refused assessments and that the total damage to infrastructure and property during this weather amounts to MVR 819,546.
Islands most severely impacted include Haa Alifu atoll Baarah, Haa Alifu atoll Dhidhhoo, Haa Dhaalu atoll Kulhudhuffushi, Lhaviyani atoll Naifaru as well as Gaafu Alifu atoll Dhevvadhoo, and Addu City's Maradhoo, Feydhoo and Hithadhoo districts.
