Police have launched an investigation into a death threat made against Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.
According to the police, they received a letter yesterday regarding the threat and are currently investigating the case. However, no further details have been released so far.
The death threat comes amid circulating messages on social media alleging that Minister Shaheem made remarks in a Viber group about two women who were arrested for protesting against Israel near embassies in Male'.
However, it is unclear whether the threat is linked to this incident.
Recently, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has also received death threats on social media.Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the incident, and his remand has been extended.
