President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed envoys to three countries.

The President's Office announced that the latest appointments were made to Bangladesh, Turkey, and Pakistan.

Shiuneen Rasheed of Asareege, Seenu Atoll Hulhudhoo, was appointed as the High Commissioner of Maldives to Bangladesh. Retired Lieutenant General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef was appointed as the first-ever resident Ambassador to Turkey. Thoha Mohamed of Ufanveli, Noonu Atoll Holhudhoo, was appointed as the Maldives Ambassador to Pakistan.

All appointees hold their positions at the State Minister level.

Shiuneen has had a long career in the Foreign Service Office and served as Joint Secretary until her appointment as High Commissioner.

Lieutenant General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef has served as the Chief of Defence Force up until his retirement from Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) in April.

Thoha is a law graduate. He had contested the primary of the main ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) for the Holhudhoo parliamentary seat but was unsuccessful.
