15 expats detained for food preparation in unsanitary conditions

An additional location in Malé has been searched, leading to authorities detaining 15 expatriates involved in the preparation of food items in unsanitary conditions.

Maldives Immigration shared on social media platform X that their task force had received information about an illegal business violating health and safety standards. The raid was conducted at a residence in Henveiru ward.

The search resulted in the detention of 15 undocumented expatriates living at the location.

Maldives Immigration confirmed that relevant authorities also participated in the raid, and notices have been issued to shut down the business.

The location looked to be unclean, with food items scattered in various places.

It is believed that the premises were used to prepare meals for expatriates.

This raid is part of an ongoing operation by Maldives Immigration to find and shut down unsanitary food preparation establishments and to detain and deport undocumented expatriates involved in illegal business activities.
