Maldives Immigration taskforce, along with the Police, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA), and Health Protection Agency (HPA), conducted an operation on Thursday, searching eight locations.
Out of the eight establishments inspected, six were shut down, although the names of these places were not disclosed. Additionally, four expatriates were taken into custody for not having valid visas.
This operation is part of an ongoing effort by Immigration to crack down on undocumented expatriates conducting illegal businesses and to ensure compliance with hygiene regulations.
Several similar inspections have been carried out recently, leading to the closure of food businesses run by expatriates and the arrest of many individuals involved in such activities.
