Anti Corruption Commission has also commenced investigations into allegations that Housing Development Corporation had issued land plots to persons not included in the list of recipients under the Binveriya housing scheme.
An ACC media official confirmed this to Mihaaru News this morning.
A land registry had been created for Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed, brother of HDC Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, despite him not having been included in the land recipients list. It came to light yesterday that similar registries had been made for a number of other individuals as well.
Documents being circulated on social media indicate that these are not legitimate registries. The Housing Ministry, too, confirmed that Fazeel is not amongst land recipients.
Police also launched an investigation into the matter yesterday, following which the Privatization and Corporatization Board suspended the entire board of HDC except for Chairman Ahmed Nasif, who was appointed as recently as November 6.
Fazeel has also been suspended from his post of Deputy Managing Director at MWSC. Police are now investigating a case of forgery against him.
