Yesterday Maldives' Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel met with Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, of neighbouring Sri Lanka.
During his official visit to Sri Lanka at the invitation of Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath , Khaleel met Prime Minister Amarasuriya and thanked him for Sri Lanka's long-standing assistance to Maldives' development and progress.
The Minister reportedly highlighted the country's assistance in education and people building in Maldives.
During the meeting, the Sri Lankan Prime Minister assured that the two countries would expand cooperation in various fields in the future, Maldives' Foreign Ministry said.
Apart from the Prime Minister, Minister Khaleel also met President Anura Kumara Dissanayake later last night.
Khaleel, who is on a four-day official visit to Sri Lanka, also met with his Sri Lankan counterpart Herath yesterday, engaging in official dialogue.
According to Maldives' statement following the meeting, both ministers discussion future collabration in tourism, education, economic and security areas.
Before his meeting with President Dissanayake, Khaleel also met with Maldivians living in Sri Lanka and several Sri Lankan businessmen.
