President Muizzu inspects progress of Criminal, Drug Court temporary building

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inspected the temporary building under construction in Hulhumale' for the Criminal Court and Drug Court.

These courts will operate from this facility until the completion of the Superior Court Complex.

During the visit yesterday, President Muizzu reviewed the building plans and received updates from senior officials of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), the Minister of Construction, Housing, and Infrastructure, and other key government representatives.

He was accompanied by Cabinet ministers, Attorney General Ahmed Usham, and senior judicial officials.

The current Criminal Court building, located in the former STO building, has deteriorated significantly. As a result, the government is constructing a temporary facility in Hulhumale' at a cost of MVR 33 million.

The government has also announced plans to begin construction of a permanent Superior Court Complex for lower courts in Male' later this year.
