President Dr Mohamed Muizzu said today that the stalled projects in islands will be resumed this month and next month.

During President Muizzu's Presidential Address to Parliament, he said that when he took office, many projects were stalled. Among them were projects that had been contracted but had not started due to being planned without a budget or a plan.

Therefore, with the completion of the ongoing projects, work is being done to ensure that the projects that have not been completed can also be carried out, he said.

President Muizzu said that all projects such as water and sewerage projects, school infrastructure projects, health centers, and sports facilities will be resumed this month and next month.

“A total of 1,043 projects will be implemented across the country this year, including starting stalled projects, continuing ongoing projects, and starting new ones,” he said.

Details of some projects include:

- Shore protection projects in 57 islands.

- Projects in 56 islands without supply water and 45 islands without sewerage systems will be completed within the next two years, and all residential islands will be provided with water and sewerage services before the end of 2026.

- Harbors in 52 islands are under development, and harbor projects in 10 more islands will be launched this year.
