Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has declared that a delegation of FIFA officials are set to arrive in the Maldives next week to assist the Normalization Committee appointed to oversee the association's operations.

Revealing that no documents required to run the association are available, Chairperson of the Normalization Committee Ahmed Zuhoor assured that efforts are currently ongoing to draft a new governing framework for the association. FIFA has also considered advice offered by the committee on this work, he added.

"FIFA teams are also arriving in Maldives within the upcoming week to assist us. During these meetings, we will keep on exploring ways to overcome the difficulties we are facing as well," said Zuhoor.

Local football club Valencia was placed under suspension during the term of the former Executive Committee (ExCo). Chairperson Zuhoor revealed that he does not believe Valencia to be a club that warrants its suspension, adding that advice from FIFA will be sought on rectifying the situation.

The Chairperson had also further highlighted the issue of missing records and documents from FAM. It also remains unclear whether the documents considered in placing Valencia under suspension is accessible to the committee as well.

The Normalization Committee was appointed to oversee the running of FAM following derailed management and debt crises. Instated for a one-year term, the responsibilities of the committee include locating misplaced funds, revising the guidelines, and organizing a new election to bring the association to a level of standard operations.
