"To make this work we are commencing successful, we will start many maritime industry projects in Ihavandhippolhu. Three important projects will be carried out in Uligan, one of which is establishing a dedicated marina for these yachts I just mentioned," Wajeeh announced.

Wajeeh added that a centre would be set up to provide services to passenger liners. These centres would be set up in southern and central atolls in addition to the north, he said.

He said that despite MPL commencing these services in the North at present, the work would be given to those working in the field.

Wajeeh said that in the past thirty plus years, MPL's role had been limited to loading and unloading shipping containers. However, he assured that a change would be seen in the future, with MPL taking on other maritime related work and becoming profitable, charging lower fees from businesses and working to lower prices of goods.
