President Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha given official ceremonial welcome in India

The Government of India has this morning held an official welcoming ceremony for President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed who are on an official State Visit to India.

The Government of India has this morning held an official welcoming ceremony for President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed who are on an official State Visit to India.

The President and First Lady were greeted by Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Presidential Palace, Rashtrapati Bhavan, in New Delhi.

A twenty one gun salute was also given at the reception in honour of President Muizzu, who then inspected the Guard of Honour.

After the ceremony, President Muizzu, accompanied by First Lady Sajidha, visited Raj Ghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

The President and First Lady, along with the high level delegation from Maldives, arrived in India yesterday afternoon.

A meeting was held yesterday between President Muizzu and India's Minister of External Affairs Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

The President will conclude this visit on Thursday. In addition to New Delhi, Mumbai, Agra and Bangalore will also be visited where official meetings will be held in various sectors, including trade.

This afternoon, official talks will be held between President Muizzu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two countries will also be signing a number of agreements.
