The Civil Court yesterday ordered the state to pay MVR 32.7 million within one month to private company Centre Enterprises.
The ruling was made regarding a lawsuit filed by the company against the government for goods rendered to the Department of Medical Services between 2006 and 2008.
The Department was represented in court by the state.
Centre Enterprises also sought MVR 51 million as a penalty on the invoice for non-payment of the goods. However, the court did not issue the penalty as the agreement did not provide for a penalty for non-payment.
Despite not allowing the collection of non-payment fines, the court ruled that the value of the goods mentioned in the invoice, MVR 32.7 million, was owed to the company by the Department of Medical Services. The court ordered the payment within 30 days from yesterday.
