The "Addu Tourism Brand" aimed at boosting tourism in Addu City, will be officially launched at a special event this Friday night.
Speaking at a press conference, Deputy Mayor Mohamed Shuau said that efforts to develop the tourism brand for Addu City have been underway for some time.
Ankria Pvt Ltd, a brand development company, won the bid for the project and has been working on it since July. The branding work is now nearly complete and will be unveiled at an event scheduled to be held at Canareef Resort.
Shuau said that this initiative which involves collaboration between resorts, guesthouses, and other tourism stakeholders in Addu is a significant step towards elevating the atoll as a tourist destination. The brand is intended to elevate the Addu's tourism industry.
Ankria has also created marketing materials to promote Addu as a tourism destination, he said.
In addition, Shuau highlighted several upcoming tourism projects planned for Addu City. These include establishment of tourism zones, the integrated development of Hankede, and the introduction of coastal tourism on reclaimed islands. More details on these initiatives will be shared at Friday's event, he said.
Addu City currently has three resorts, with two currently in operation, which are Canareef Resort and South Palm Resort. Shangri-La Villingili Resort and Spa, which has been closed for four years, is in the process of reopening. There are also many guesthouses operating in Addu City.
