Shakeel’s funeral service will take place at the Aa Sahara cemetery mosque following afternoon prayers today.
Hassan Shakeel, who dedicated over 40 years of service to the Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI), has passed away at the age of 64.
Shakeel, who held the position of Deputy Director General at MMRI, was widely regarded as a remarkable figure in the field of mariculture research.
MMRI described him as a mentor and father figure to many of the institute's employees, and praised his commitment to building and nurturing talent within the field.
His passing is a significant loss to both MMRI and mariculture research, MMRI said.
