The person injured after the rotor blades of a Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) helicopter hit an airstair in Velana International Airport on Sunday is in serious condition, stated ADK Hospital on Monday
The accident occurred Sunday afternoon around 4:00 p.m. The person injured is the airstair driver, who was stabbed in the abdomen with a flying shard from the helicopter’s rotor blade after it hit the airstair.
According to the Managing Director of ADK Hospital, Ahmed Afaal, the injured person is currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit and his condition remains critical.
Mihaaru understands that the reason for the accident was the airstair being driven past the MNDF helicopter before its rotor blades had stopped after landing.
