Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has accepted a case filed by Supreme Court Judge Dr Azmiralda Zahir against ACC President Adam Shaamil, accusing him of misusing his position and fabricating information regarding the suspension of three Supreme Court judges.

Judges Azmiralda, Mahaz Ali Zahir, and Husnu Suood; who later resigned were suspended on February 26 in connection with an ACC investigation.

However, the commission has not disclosed details of the case being investigated.

In a letter addressed to Shaamil, Azmiralda stated that despite her suspension, she was not formally informed of any investigation against her. She also raised concerns that the letter ACC sent to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) was not processed through the usual procedures and instead delivered from hand to hand, lacked an official letter number, and falsely claimed that a criminal case was being investigated against her.

Azmiralda's lawyer requested ACC to register the case, citing that Shaamil’s actions amounted to abuse of power aimed at obstructing Supreme Court proceedings.

She also alleged that his interference was unconstitutional and intended to influence judicial work.

Azmiralda has called for an immediate investigation into Shaamil’s actions as a criminal offense, arguing that it constituted misuse of official authority for the benefit of an undeserving party.
